Sprite quickstart
A Fly Sprite is one way to host a model: a small Linux box with an https address. Any host works the same way.
Steps
- Create a Sprite and open a shell on it.
- Download the template with
bootstrap.sh. - Put your model in
model.mtsand describe it inmanifest.json, under your team's namespace, which ShockAI assigns. Start the server with the Sprite's own address asPUBLIC_ORIGIN. - Make the Sprite's address reachable without a Fly login:
sprite url update --auth public. Every request to your model is still checked by its signature. - Connect it from your team's Models page with the Sprite's address and
/shockai/v0after it. What your team needs first.
shell
# On the Sprite
curl -fsSL https://app.shockai.co/developers/templates/v0/bootstrap.sh | sh -s -- node
PUBLIC_ORIGIN=https://<your-sprite-url> BUILD_HASH=<your build> node shockai-model/server.mts
# From your machine: let the platform reach it without a Fly login
sprite url update --auth publicWhy the platform sends no Authorization header
Fly's edge reads any Authorization: Bearer header as its own access token. The platform authenticates with ShockAI-Signature instead, so your address stays public and your server checks every request itself.
A Sprite that sleeps
A Sprite may sleep when idle. The platform may call /healthz first to wake it, and asks once more after a pause when a request finds it asleep. Keep your runs in data/, so a restart fails a run honestly rather than losing it.
