Sending recordings to a project

Web Sync reads recordings straight off a ViB or VoD unit over Bluetooth and attaches them to a project, with no software to install. You choose the sessions, the page reads them from the unit and sends them, and it tells you when they are safely in the project. Analysis carries on afterwards without the unit.

You need Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop, or Chrome on Android. iPhones and iPads cannot connect directly.

Connect a unit

Open Tools → Web Sync and pick your unit. Once connected you land on the unit's overview: its battery, storage and what it is holding.

Units that are recording or saving

A unit that is recording stops recording the moment anything connects to it, so Web Sync checks what the unit is doing before it connects.

• Saving a recording. The unit is writing a capture to its storage. Connecting now would cut that short, so the page waits — usually a few seconds — and connects on its own when the save finishes. You can stop waiting at any time; nothing already captured is lost.
• Recording. The unit is armed and listening for a trigger. The page asks before it connects: Stop recording and connect, or Leave it recording. Anything already captured stays on the unit either way.
• Idle. The unit connects straight away.

The same check runs whether you tap the unit in the list, open a link to it, reload the page, or reconnect after a drop. If the unit says it is saving for much longer than a save should take, the page tells you, and switching the unit off and on may be needed.

Choose what to send

On the Data tab, click Select and tick the sessions you want — or tick a day heading to take the whole shift. The bar at the bottom counts what a project can take and offers Send to project.

Pick the project

The dialog says what is about to move — sessions, events and size — and warns if the unit's battery is low for a send this long. Pick the project and click Send to project.

Watch it send

One bar covers the whole job: reading from the unit, then sending to the project. The tray names which session it is on and how long is left; you can move to other tabs and it stays. Stop keeps what has already been read.

Sent

Sent means the recordings are safely in the project. The line beneath shows analysis catching up — charts appear in the project as each event finishes, and nothing here waits for it. If some events did not arrive, the tray says how many and offers Send the rest again, which does not read the unit a second time.

Erase from the unit

Once a session is in the project the tray offers to erase it from the unit, freeing space for the next shift without losing anything. Keep leaves it on the unit.

If a send is interrupted — the tab closed, the unit moved out of range — come back to the Data tab: what was already read off the unit is kept, and Send the rest finishes without reading it again.
