Probe and ruler
Read the expected vibration anywhere on the ground with the Probe, pin up to three readings as Handles, and measure distance and bearing with the Ruler.
Two tools read the ground itself, not a unit on it. The Probe gives the expected vibration wherever you point, and the Ruler measures between two points. Press Shift+P for the Probe and Shift+M for the Ruler. Press the same keys again, or Esc, to put the tool down.
The Probe
Move the pointer over the ground, or use the arrow keys (hold Shift for larger steps). Beside the crosshair, a frame marked Estimate reads:
- P95 first, then P50. The P95 is the design value: the level a new reading stays under 95 times in 100. These come from the project's fitted site law, the same numbers as the blast page and the report. Without a fitted law the Probe gives the default law's value alone, and says so.
- How far the point is from the heaviest charge window, and the scaled distance.
- A note where the law does not hold, in the near field, or beyond the distances it was fitted on.
- When the ground first moves there, counted from the first hole: the earliest of every hole's wave to arrive.
- The nearest hole, and how far away it is.
The estimate uses the heaviest charge window, the same one the Est. PPV layer draws, so a reading and the contour under it agree.
Handles
Click, or press Enter, to pin the reading where the Probe is. Up to three stay pinned, each with its P95, and they stay when you put the Probe down. Click on a pinned Handle to take it up.
The Ruler
Click, or press Enter, at one end and again at the other. The line reads the distance along the ground and the bearing: true when the blast is georeferenced, grid when only the plan's grid is known. Where the two ends differ in height, the straight-line distance shows beneath. A third click starts a new measurement.
While a tool is in hand, clicking on a hole does not select it. Put the tool down to go back to picking holes.
